Recording a funeral service can be a great way of sharing the love you have for your family member. Whether you would like the video to pass on to those who couldn’t be there on the day, pass down to future generations or to simply just have something to watch back in the years to come, that’s up to you. We’re here to help you preserve that memory and celebrate a life well lived. You may not really know what to expect when thinking about organising a funeral video recording, so below we will give you a brief run-down:
1. Enquiring & planning for a funeral video
The first step will be to speak with our friendly team (here’s a photo of Ryan, so you can put a face to the voice) to find which funeral video services suit you the best. Whether you’re looking for a simple and cost-effective single-camera recording or a multiple-camera-angle edited video, we can tailor our services to suit you.
Every funeral is different and a deeply personal event, so it’s important we’re on the same page with what to include or perhaps exclude when putting together you’re video.
We appreciate that this can be an extremely difficult time for you and you may wish to get everything sorted quickly. Should you prefer to handle your booking this way, you can confirm the details directly through our quick and easy form system.
The Two Styles of Video for you to Consider
A more affordable option for those looking for something more functional.
Starting with capturing the arrival of the funeral procession (or within the church, if that’s your preference), we will include the full funeral or memorial service. By taking an approach with few cuts and edits, we create a video that is true to the feel of the day. An ideal option for those who want to be able to look back on the day once emotions have settled or share it with those who cannot be there.
At your request, we can also include coverage at the family home, the committal and the wake.
Create a video for friends and family to cherish.
Allow our professional and discreet funeral videographers to carefully craft a video of the service to commemorate your loved one. We capture the full service on multiple camera angles and combine the footage with scene-setting shots to create a lovely tribute to your loved one, perfect to share with family and friends.
As with all of our options, we can tailor our service to suit you, covering as much or as little of the day as you like.
2. Confirming the funeral details
While our booking form can be completed with essential details such as the address and timings, it is also an opportunity for you to give us any information that you feel is important for us to know. Also, it’s an opportunity to make it clear how you want the video to be approached on the day, such as capturing the hearse’s arrival and showing off the flowers. However, fear not, our professional team videos funerals most days, so you can rest assured that we will make sure everything is handled well and with dignity.
Please note:
- Please be aware that without particular indication to do otherwise, we typically try to avoid highly sensitive moments such as showing close-ups of grieving attendees, open caskets or shots down into an open grave.
- Typically we position ourselves at the rear of the venue with our camera in a raised position to ensure we are discreet. However, should you prefer us to be at the front (or any other particular position), please make us aware.
- Should you be arranging our services through your Funeral Director, we recommend also contacting us directly to confirm any key points to ensure no information is lost.
An invoice will be sent to you via email. This is payable by credit/debit card or bank transfer. Unfortunately, we do not take payment over the phone.
3. What happens on the day of the funeral?
- Our funeral videographer will be professional and smartly dressed. We will operate self-sufficiently and remain as discreet as possible. We fully appreciate that you will have plenty on your plate already.
- We aim to arrive at the venue 2 hours before the service is due to start. We don’t necessarily need access to the venue, however, with the importance of the day at hand, we want to make sure everything is taken care of. Should we have to work within strict time frames we can, the minimum amount of time needed to set up is roughly 15 minutes.
- We will liaise with venue staff.
- Test out multiple camera positions.
- Set up our wireless and wired microphones and test audio quality.
- Set up backup power supplies if needed.
- Everything will be videoed tastefully and respectfully.
- If we are to be with you at multiple venues we will visit the other locations where possible to ensure we have our travel plans well laid out.
- Unless you have noted otherwise, once the service is over we will try to leave discreetly.
4. Receiving Your video
Should it be a recording that you have booked, we should have the finished copy to you within a week, whereas edited videos take up to 3 weeks. We will provide you with a digital link that allows you to both watch and download your video.
We can also create a personalised, private hosting page to display your video, where we can add photos, the Order of Service, receive tributes and accept donations. You can view an example of one of these pages here.
Your video will remain available to you for 12 months as standard. Should you wish for us to extend our hosting of your video, we can transfer the video, free of charge, to the Funeral Streaming YouTube channel.
While your downloadable copy is included in the price, we can create USB or DVD keepsakes for you, these are charged at £25 each.
