Thank you for joining us at Tom’s funeral. It was planned by him, including his express wish that the congregation be in bright, casual clothing: so if you’ve just popped in from the garden, that’s just perfect.
Tom was a proud member of the St Nicholas congregation throughout his lifetime celebrating major life events and serving as committee member, church warden or bell ringer for 60 years.
For much of the last 30 years, he suffered with heart problems. If you would like to make a donation in his memory Jenny has chosen the British Heart Foundation: www.giftofhope.bhf.org.uk/In-Memory/Tom-Bull
Alternatively, you can make a donation to the Friends of St Nicholas Church via Pauline Taggart at Stoneman Funeral Service in Godstone.
I have many happy memories of Tom in our early years in Godstone. Particularly the Dramatic Society which my father formed. Also the Young Conservatives, and later on meet ups with our respective families. Such a lovely man who will be greatly missed.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know Tom, we both grew up in Godstone, were members of Church youth club and G.A.D.S. His children were at school with mine. More recently he was always at Cafe Connect. Godstone won’t be the same without him. God bless Tom, rest in peace, you have earned it.
I have many memories of Tom throughout my childhood and into my adult life. I was always struck by his kindness and his caring nature. St Nicholas Church is certainly a special place, and when I think of it, Tom always pops in to my mind. He will be missed by all who new him.
Tom and Jenny were among the first people I met when I arrived in Surrey from my native Wales just before John and I were married in 1968, and I was made so very welcome, and yes – we met via the YCs. Tom will be missed so very much
What a lovely service and readings about Tom’s life delivered with love and emotion. I never knew anything about his younger days, especially why he was called Tom. All us Trotman children have wonderful memories growing up next door, and and remember Tom as such a friendly, kind man with a particularly dry sense of humour!
